Card Features

Cards on a GitKraken Board represent the tasks that need to be completed on your board. Below you can explore all of the features available or quick dive to a specific topic.
GitKraken Boards is designed to increase your productivity by allowing you to access all relevent details of your workflow on one screen.
When you select a card, a details panel for that task will display on the right-hand side of the screen to provide a non-intrusive way to view more information.
Here, you can get down to business and customize a task to include everything your team needs to streamline their productivity.

Description
Write a description of the card to explain the task to your board members.
On the board panel, the icon will appear on a card with an added Description.
Add a description
Click on a card to open the card details panel. Type your Description where prompted, and hit .
Click and drag the bottom right corner to expand the Description field.
Edit description
To edit, hover over the description and click in the right-hand corner.
Finish editing and hit to save your changes.
Assignees
Assign users to card to distribute tasks to members of your team.
On the board panel, the avatar of a user will appear on a card assigned to them.
Manage users
When a user is listed as a current user of your board, you are free to assign them to GitKraken Board cards.
Manage the users with access to your board in Board Settings by clicking the in the upper right side of the interface, or manage users directly from a card.
Select a card and navigate to Assignees in the card details panel.
Click to access Users management within Board Settings.
Assign a user
Assign a user by selecting a card and navigating to Assignees in the card details panel.
Begin typing a users' name where prompted, or click the dropdown arrow to choose from a list of users on the GitKraken Board. Click on the user to assign to the card.
A checkmark will denote the users assigned to the card and their avatar will show up beneath the Assignees field in the card details panel.
Unassign a user
To unassign a user, trigger the dropout arrow again and click on the assigned user you'd like to remove.
The checkmark will be removed from their details, indicating that they are no longer assigned to the card.
Filter by assignees
To filter all cards that belong to a certain user, find a card they're assigned to and click the user's avatar to initiate the filter.
Labels
Labels provide the ability to categorize your cards or visually represent intermediate actions such as priority or item type.
On the board panel, labels will be explicitly represented on each card for seamless reference.
Manage labels
You can manage your labels in Board Settings.
In the Labels section of a card detail panel, click to access the label management panel within Board Settings.

Apply labels
Use the Add/Remove Labels field to apply a label to a card.
Select the dropdown menu arrow and select a label to classify that card. Choose as many as you'd like.
A checkmark will denote the labels assigned to the card. All labels associated with a given card will be listed within Labels field in the card details panel, as well as on the face of the card on the board panel.
Remove labels
Remove labels with the same motion; by toggling the Add/Remove Labels field. Or, select the button to remove.
Filter by label
Filter cards on your GitKraken Board by label by typing #labelname
into the search bar.
Task List
Tasks can be used to create epic cards containing additional checklists to represent multiple components that need to be completed.
On the board panel, a card with a Task List will display the task count and progress made towards completing the list.
Add a task
In the details panel of a card, click
Name the task and hit
You task will appear above the prompt line, allowing you to quickly create subsequent tasks to add to your list.
You can check the tasks off one by one as you complete them.
The list of tasks will also populate into your Description section at the top of the card details for quick reference to your to-do's.
Edit a task
Tasks are edited by clicking the icon that appears when you hover over a task in Task List.
You can also edit tasks directly from the Description section using markdown.
Delete a task
Tasks can be removed by clicking the that appears when you hover over a task in Task List.
Convert a task to a card
To convert a task to a card, hover over the task and select the icon. The new card will be created with a description of Created from card: <card name>
that will link to the original card. The task on the original card will be linked to the new card.
Pull Request
After connecting your GitKraken Board to your GitHub repos, link your cards to pull requests.
Linking a pull request
The Pull Request section on a card's details panel populates a drop down meny of your linked pull requests; click on a pull request from this list to link it to the card you're currently viewing.
After linking the pull request to your card, it will appear in your card's Pull Request section as an item with a corresponding label. The label will note the status of the pull request.
You may also quickly view available pull request information like name, ID#, date last opened, and build status.
Click on a pull request name from your card to open it in GitHub.
Removing a pull request
Unlink a pull request from the card using the icon on the top right.
Pull request automation
When a pull request is updated in GitHub, the card will automatically advance to another column based on the mapping you set up during initial integration. Seamless productivity at its finest!
Milestones
Milestones are useful as a visual aid to track the progress of multiple cards toward a goal date. They function much like a label in GitKraken Boards, and can be assigned to any card within the board.
Manage milestones
You can manage your milestones in Board Settings.
In the Milestone section of a card details panel, click to toggle the milestones management panel within Board Settings.

Apply milestone
Create milestones in Board Settings. Assign a milestone in card details using the drop-down menu.
The milestone will appear on the card as a grey box with the name and a flag icon.
Unlike labels, only one milestone can be assigned to a card. And while a milestone assigned to a card has a target completion date, the card can continue to maintain its individual due date.
Filter by milestone
Use the filter option to quickly view all cards associated with a milestone and card count per column by using $milestone_name
.
Due dates
Set due dates against your cards for easy filtering. Open the card details to access the Due Date field.
Then, set a date to save.
Once a date is saved in the card details, you'll be given option to . Select this see your issues overlayed on a calendar.
On the board panel, the face of a card will have a clock icon with its' assigned due date listed for quick reference to help you prioritize your tasks.
Overdue tasks will highlight the clock and past due date in yellow.
A warning will appear if the card's due date is past an associated associated milestone's due date.
Filter by due date
You can utilize the search bar to filter cards on your GitKraken Board by using has:duedate
for cards with due dates and -has:duedate
for cards without due dates.

File & Image attachments
Attach files to cards to provide quick references for your team. When an attachment is added to a card, the icon will appear.
Add an attachment
Drag an attachment directly onto the card, the Description, or the Comments field. The file will populate at the active cursor position in Markdown.
You can also drag and drop directly onto cards from the board view to quickly add attachments to multiple cards.
Set cover image
Set a cover image to a card to give your team members an easy way to scan your board for the card they need.
Once an image attachment is added, select Set Cover Image
.
Delete an attachment
Remove an attachment by using the delete function.
Cover images can also be removed as cover, but still kept in the card as an attchment, by selecting Remove cover
.
Notifications
You can automate notifications based on a card's status change. For cards you create and cards you are assigned to, notifications are enabled by default - though you can change your notification preferences for a given card at any time.
Subscribe to a card
If you would like to subscribe to a card that you did not create or are not assigned to, enable notifications by editing the card and clicking the button.
Unsubscribe from a card
To opt out of receiving notifications on the status of a card you created, are assigned to, or previously subscribed to, click the button.
View your notifications
When the status of a card you are subscribed to has changed and new notifications are available, a blue dot will appear next to the icon in the upper right corner.
Click the icon to view the notifications.
View card activity
To view the full history of the activity on a card, whether you are subscribed to the card or not, elect to in the Notifications section.
The activity feed logs the following events:
- Card creation
- Comments (full text)
- Displayed in-line with activity when showing all activity
- Updates to title (full text)
- Updates to description (timestamp only)
- Addition/Removal of labels
- Addition/Removal Tasks (shown as description update)
- Assigned/Unassigned users
Manage notifications
You can manage your notifications in Account Settings. You can specify your default preferences for suscriptions, indicate your desired notification frequency, and choose if you'd like to be receive reminders through email or the GitKraken Boards mobile app.
Specify your preferences in Account Settings.
Mobile push notifications
If you elect the receive reminders to your phone, the GitKraken Boards mobile app can send you push notifications according to your notification settings.
To manage the frequency of push notification frequency, click on the profile dropdown in the upper right and select Notifications
.
iOS
To turn on push notifications, open the Settings
app, click on Glo
, and adjust your settings.
Android
To turn on push notifications, open the Settings
app, click on Notifications
and toggle the setting for GitKraken Boards.
Click on Advanced
and then select Glo
to see additional options.
Comments
Comments are displayed at the bottom of the card details view. When the first comment is added to the card, the icon will appear.
Add a comment
To add a comment, type your comment in the Comments field and hit .
Click and drag the bottom right corner of the comment field to expand it.
Edit a comment
Hover over the comment and click to edit a comment.
Finish your edits and hit .
Delete a comment
Hover over the comment and click the .
Click to confirm the deletion.
Reactions
You can add reactions to cards and comments. To add a reaction, select the reaction icon on the card or comment and then select the reaction.
To remove your reaction, simply select the reaction again. You can see who reacted by hovering over the reaction.
