Import Data

GitKraken Timelines allows you to import data from outside sources.

You can access the Import menu from the drop-down option under the button.

You can also use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+K/Cmd+K and begin typing "import" to see a list of import options.


Import from YouTube

Once you have opened the import modal and YouTube is selected, you can copy and paste the YouTube playlist URL.

  • Import a YouTube Playlist: Select a new or existing Timeline where the videos will be imported.
  • Select timeline: This will default to the Timeline you have selected when starting the import, use the drop-down menu to select a different Timeline.
  • YouTube Playlist URL: Copy and paste your YouTube playlist URL here.

When GitKraken Timelines recognizes the YouTube Playlist URL you will see a ✔ as well as how many videos will be imported.

Note: only playlists with 100 or fewer videos are supported.

CSV File

You can access the Import menu from the drop-down option under the button.

Once you have opened the import modal, select CSV.

  • Import a local CSV file: Select a new or existing timeline for the CSV data.
  • Timeline Type: This appears when creating a new timeline, be sure to select the type (number/date) that matches your CSV.
  • Upload a CSV file: Browse to the CSV file in your file system.

When GitKraken Timelines recognizes the file formatting you will see a message noting the number of rows to be imported.

Click button and away you go!

Example CSV Files

Please note that the CSV file must be in one of the formats below for the import to succeed.

  • Headers provided in the example files are CASE-SENSITIVE and REQUIRED for the CSV import to work
  • Both Title and Date/Number are REQUIRED fields.
